Let\u2019s go!<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><!--more-->What Is User Interaction<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #00ccff;\"><a style=\"color: #00ccff;\" href=\"http:\/\/edutechwiki.unige.ch\/en\/User_interaction_and_user_interface_design\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Edutech Wiki<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> defines \u201cuser interaction\u201d as: \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">how the user acts on a system, and how the system acts on the user<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u201d More simply put, <\/span><b>user interaction<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">elements of a webpage that someone visiting the website can take action on<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example, user interaction is anything from a button, to entering their email, to a link that a viewer can click on. In this blog post alone, you\u2019ve already come across two forms of user interaction: the <\/span><b>inbound link<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to our last blog post, and the <\/span><b>outbound link<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to Edutech Wiki. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Why User Interaction Is Important For SEO<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">User interaction will help your website\u2019s SEO by letting Google know <\/span><b>how relevant and helpful your site is<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. If lots of people show interest in your site, then you are likely to rank higher.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As far as user interaction is concerned, <\/span><b>CTR<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (or <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">click through rate<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) is the number of clicks your page received divided by the number of times your page is seen. <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #00ccff;\"><a style=\"color: #00ccff;\" href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/adwords\/answer\/2615875?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> explains it this way: <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIf you had <\/span><\/i><b><i>5 clicks and 1000 impressions, then your CTR would be 0.5%<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Why is CTR important to your site\u2019s ranking?\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Well <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #00ccff;\"><a style=\"color: #00ccff;\" href=\"https:\/\/moz.com\/blog\/does-organic-ctr-impact-seo-rankings-new-data\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Moz Blog<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> writer, Larry Kim, states \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If a page is ranking in position 3, but gets a higher than expected CTR, Google may <\/span><\/i><b><i>decide to rank that page higher<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.leadpropeller.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/If-a-page-is-ranking-in-position-3-but-gets-a-higher-than-expected-CTR-Google-may-decide-to-rank-that-page-higher.\u201d.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-385\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.leadpropeller.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/If-a-page-is-ranking-in-position-3-but-gets-a-higher-than-expected-CTR-Google-may-decide-to-rank-that-page-higher.\u201d.jpg\" alt=\"SEO guide page ranking\" width=\"399\" height=\"299\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lpblog.leadpropeller.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/If-a-page-is-ranking-in-position-3-but-gets-a-higher-than-expected-CTR-Google-may-decide-to-rank-that-page-higher.\u201d.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/lpblog.leadpropeller.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/If-a-page-is-ranking-in-position-3-but-gets-a-higher-than-expected-CTR-Google-may-decide-to-rank-that-page-higher.\u201d-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 399px) 100vw, 399px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An easy way to boost your website\u2019s CTR is by including <\/span><b>outbound <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>inbound <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">links. This is important because it helps Google find credibility with what you\u2019re saying and what other, already established posters, are saying. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For instance, the links we provided to Google and to Moz Blog will help to boost this page\u2019s credibility because those are <\/span><b>respected sources<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Because we\u2019ve linked to preexisting posts, Google will find our post informative and useful to viewers such as yourself. This will boost this page\u2019s CTR by showing our website higher in the search results and therefore getting more clicks, which will ultimately help our ranking.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meta Tags:<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Another great way to increase click-through-rate is by having an enticing page title and page description. High bounce rates can be caused by a number of things, all of which you want to avoid in order to help your SEO and CTR.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If your bounce rate is too high, Google will think that your website is not useful enough in searches. This will cause your website to rank poorly. To improve your site\u2019s bounce rate, you should fix any issues mentioned in our graphic. Additionally, Google suggests using <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #00ccff;\"><a style=\"color: #00ccff;\" href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/analytics\/answer\/1745147\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">content experiments<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to check your bounce rate.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pages Per Visit:<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><b>Pages per visit<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is simply <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">how many pages on your website a viewer goes to during one session<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Not only will this help your CTR, because a viewer is traveling from one page on your site to another, but it will also help to improve your site\u2019s bounce rate that we just talked about.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To improve your pages per visit, be sure you\u2019re using <\/span><b>internal links<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (which we\u2019ll talk about further down). That way, a visitor to your site will be compelled to go further into your content.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Your pages per visit should never be one<\/strong> because that means that users aren\u2019t interacting with your site. If there are people not interacting with your site immediately, it\u2019s probably because they <em>did not find the information they searched for. <\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If this happens, then you need to include <strong>clear avenues through your site<\/strong> that will direct them to a page that will answer their search question. Your website should be engaging enough for your target audience to interact with, not click away from.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ways to keep a viewer engaged and traveling through your website instead of away from it include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Arrows &amp; Buttons to different pages<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A navigation bar<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clear internal linking to different services<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Internal Links:<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To keep viewers engaged, use <\/span><b>internal links<\/b> <b>to circulate traffic throughout your website<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. To get technical, Marketing Manager <\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #00ccff;\"><a style=\"color: #00ccff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.quora.com\/profile\/Samit-Chauhan\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Samit Chauhan <\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">says, \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">internal linking refers to <\/span><\/i><b><i>any links from one page on a domain which lead to another page on the same domain<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example, in this blog the very first link we attached was a link to Part 1 of our SEO Guide. This helps redirect traffic around our site. This is a great way to inter link because someone who found this page might not have known about Part 1 without that link there.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Similarly, Part 1 of our SEO Guide has <\/span><b>internal links to our other blogs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. We linked to Part 1 of our SEO Guide because that made sense as an internal link in this blog. We wouldn\u2019t link to an article about cats for two reasons: 1 &#8211; Cats have nothing to do with our content, and 2 &#8211; Cats have nothing to do with SEO, and would just<\/span><b> weaken our page\u2019s credibility<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Outbound Links:<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Like we\u2019ve already stated, linking to respected sources will help your website\u2019s SEO and click through rates. Always keep in this in mind: The more you link to other relevant sources, <\/span><b>the more useful your site will be<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #00ccff;\"><a style=\"color: #00ccff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rebootonline.com\/blog\/long-term-outgoing-link-experiment\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reboot<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, an online marketing journal, conducted a study on how using outbound links will help your website rank higher in Google searches. The 5 month long experiment resulted in Reboot finding that \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ongoing relevant links to authoritative sites are considered in [Google\u2019s] algorithm and do have a positive impact on rankings<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, should you be using outbound links in your website\u2019s posts? Absolutely. As long as they\u2019re relevant. Take this blog post for example again. At this point, we\u2019ve already externally linked to Edutech Wiki, Google, Moz Blog, and Reboot. Those links are all relevant to the material we are covering, but more importantly, those<\/span><b> links are authoritative and informational<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.leadpropeller.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/ongoing-relevant-links-to-authoritative-sites-are-considered-in-Google\u2019s-algorithm-and-do-have-a-positive-impact-on-rankings..jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-394\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.leadpropeller.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/ongoing-relevant-links-to-authoritative-sites-are-considered-in-Google\u2019s-algorithm-and-do-have-a-positive-impact-on-rankings..jpg\" alt=\"SEO guide relevant links\" width=\"399\" height=\"299\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lpblog.leadpropeller.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/ongoing-relevant-links-to-authoritative-sites-are-considered-in-Google\u2019s-algorithm-and-do-have-a-positive-impact-on-rankings..jpg 1024w, https:\/\/lpblog.leadpropeller.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/ongoing-relevant-links-to-authoritative-sites-are-considered-in-Google\u2019s-algorithm-and-do-have-a-positive-impact-on-rankings.-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 399px) 100vw, 399px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The difference in having an outbound link that\u2019s authoritative, or high-value, and an outbound link that is low value is how established that site is. Reboot was a high-value outbound link to add in this blog because it <\/span><b>presented information that is both relevant and helpful to our post<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and to our audience (you). <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You might be thinking \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">won\u2019t outbound links direct traffic away from my website<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">?\u201d Well, not really. By using useful outbound links in your posts, your website is demonstrating to Google that you are up to date with current information, and are providing useful sources for your viewers. This will ultimately help your traffic flow because <\/span><b>Google will start to rank you higher the more relevant your posts are<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Where do you get these links? Which sites have high value? You\u2019re a real estate investor. You shouldn\u2019t be asking these questions, you should be closing deals.
